WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- The discovery of a baby girl's body at a recycling center in West Haven on Wednesday evening has raised more questions than authorities could immediately answer.Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Leon Collins reported someone discovered the baby's body at the Marcus Paper Co. facility at the intersection of First Avenue and Wood Street in West Haven at about 5 p.m.Authorities were not immediately able to determine the child's sex and did not know how long the child was at the recycling center. State police determined by late Thursday morning that the child was that of a baby girl, not a fetus. The state police mobile crime lab was called to the facility because investigators do not yet know whether the baby was dumped at the West Haven building or dumped somewhere else and brought to the building.State police have taken charge of the investigation because the contents inside the building come from surrounding towns and cities that participate in a cardboard recycling program, in which West Haven does not participate, Collins reported. The medical examiner has been scheduled to perform an autopsy.
