Spaghetti Dinners To Benefit Fire Victims

Businesses Come Together To Raise Funds

    POSTED: 3:52 pm EDT April 27, 2008
    UPDATED: 3:27 pm EDT April 28, 2008

In response to a fire that displaced 150 residents of a Norwich apartment complex, a series of spaghetti dinners will be held to raise funds for the victims.

The Richard E. Hourigan VFW Post 594 will host benefit dinners on Wednesday, April 30; Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Donations of $8 per person will be collected at the door.

Money raised at the dinners will benefit residents of the Peachtree Apartments fire victims.

The mayor and city manager of Norwich will be serving the dinner on Friday, May 2.

About 150 people were left homeless after a six-alarm blaze destroyed a 120-unit apartment building.

The fundraiser is a cooperative effort between Mona Lisa's Restaurant, Daniels' on the Waterfront, ShopRite Supermarkets, US Food Services, WalMart, Stop & Shop, Illiano's Restaurant and other businesses in the community.
