SUFFIELD, Conn. -- State correction officials said the MacDougall Correctional Institution in Suffield was locked down after an inmate was attacked by another prisoner.The Department of Correction told Eyewitness News that a prisoner attacked another inmate in the prison's high-security unit.The injured prisoner was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he was listed Tuesday afternoon in critical condition.Neither of the inmates' identities have been released.
The assault occurred around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Prison officials and the State Police Major Crime Unit are investigating.MacDougall Correctional Institution is a maximum-security facility.
