School: Students Engaged In Classroom Sex

Students Say Act Was Recorded On Cell Phone

An investigation is under way at a New Britain middle school after students said two eighth-graders engaged in a sexual act inside a classroom.

The students said that not only did other classmates watch the alleged act, but one recorded it on a cell-phone camera.

A substitute teacher was present at the act, according to students.

Students at Pulaski Middle School told Eyewitness News that an eighth-grade boy and girl engaged in an oral sex act during math class last week.

The students said that several classmates blocked the pair from the view of the substitute teacher, and that one classmate recorded the entire act on a camera phone.

An automated phone message from school administrators went out to parents Wednesday night.

Parent Sonia Rodriguez said she received the message and was shocked.

"Supposedly it's … on the Internet, on YouTube -- that's more concerning," Rodriguez said.

She said the message informed her that the sex act may have been recorded, and that school leaders are helping those involved.

"They did say that the teacher will no longer be there, but they didn't say anything about the kids being suspended," Rodriguez said.

Friends of the students involved told Eyewitness News that both the boy and girl were suspended, and that they may be expelled.

New Britain's superintendent and Board of Education did not return Eyewitness News' calls seeking comment.
