Police: Teen Waves Gun At Officer, Stepsons

MARBLOROUGH, Conn. -- Connecticut Department of Corrections Officer William Finney Jr. was traveling with his family through the town of Marlborough on Friday at about 4:30 p.m. when he said he saw a vehicle in the ditch and two men running from it.Finney said he believed the vehicle was stolen, and he said he pursued the two men on foot.At an embankment near Route 2, Finney and his two stepsons were able to catch up to the men, who had stopped running, and one of the men brandished a handgun, he said.Finney said he was able to talk the man holding the gun to put it on the ground, and he said he detained the two men until troopers from the Colchester barracks arrived.
Police said the vehicle, a 2006 Mercedes-B E350, was stolen from a residence in Ledyard on Thursday.A 16-year-old New London resident was charged in connection to the vehicle and the standoff with first-degree larceny, three counts second-degree criminal attempt to commit assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, police said.The teen is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Manchester court on Monday.Mike Frazier, 18, of 20 Deerfield Ave., in Waterford, Conn., was charged in connection to the stolen vehicle with first-degree larceny.Frazier is being held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Manchester court on Monday as well.
