Bomb Squad Called To Hamden Post Office

Robot Circles Building; Explosion Heard

The intersection surrounding the Hamden Post Office was closed Thursday evening after the discovery of a suspicious package.

Federal agents, post office inspectors, state police and local police were summoned to the building after receiving a report of a suspicious package around 2:30 p.m.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Hena Daniels reported that the New Haven bomb squad had also reported to the building.

Daniels reported that a robot was seen circling the area and that a small explosion was heard before 5 p.m.

Officers were rerouting traffic around the Whitney Avenue building.
