Computer Glitch Foils Robbery

Attempted Robber Leads Police In Chase

POSTED: 12:22 pm EDT July 2, 2008

Police said an attempted bank robber led police in a pursuit through several Connecticut towns on Wednesday morning.

Officers said a masked man attempted to enter the First New England Federal Credit Union on Hyde Avenue. The man was unable to open the door because of a computer glitch, police said.

The attempted robber then fled the bank in a car with another person.

The car was described as a white Dodge Magnum, with Connecticut license plate 703uXG, police said.

After following the car through several towns, police called off the chase because of rain.
