Governor Encourages 'Staycations'
Program Offers Discounts Across State

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With the state average for gas at $4.38 a gallon, many people have said they’re thinking of staying local this Fourth of July.Gov. Jodi Rell said Connecticut has a lot to offer, which is why she’s launched “Connecticut: Your Staycation Destination.”She said the program offers discounts to more than 300 attractions around the state. Participants include museums, aquariums, galleries, spas, vineyards, hotels, restaurants and much more, she said.In this time of ever-rising energy, gas and grocery costs, state leaders said, this program is a great way for families to have a fun and exciting summer without having to reach too deep into their pockets.
