A fugitive caught in Connecticut after being featured for a third time on "America's Most Wanted" went before a Hartford judge Thursday, police said.

Police said Lamont Cooke, 23, is wanted in Maryland and Pennsylvania, but went before a Connecticut judge after being caught in Vernon Wednesday. The judge kept his bond at $1 million while he awaits extradition to the states where his serious crimes allegedly occurred, police said.

Cooke is also known as Dean Roy Thomas, police said. They said he’s wanted in two mid-Atlantic states and by immigration and customs enforcement.

The Jamaican national could be deported, they said, but more likely will be tied up in our legal system for a long time.

They said investigators in Maryland said he killed a man who received a package of drugs that had been sent to his house by mistake. Officers in Philadelphia said Cooke kidnapped a bar owner, tortured him and demanded ransom, police said.

After his history was recounted for a third time on "America's Most Wanted," police said, a tip led them to a High Street home in Rockville where Cooke had been staying.
