BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport's mayor, along with other state and local officials, honored the four victims of last Fourth of July's tragedy at Beardsley Park on Friday.A woman and three children were killed last July when their van plunged into Bunnell Pond.Michelle McIntosh, her 2-year-old son, David; 6-year-old nephew, Jayden Wilson; and 3-year-old family friend, Julia Boyd, were killed in the crash.Mayor Bill Finch laid a wreath at a newly installed guardrail in honor of those killed.
"By laying this wreath we are saying that we should never forget Michelle McIntosh, her young son, nephew and family friend, Julia Boyd," he said. "However, the installation of this guardrail honors them more. It won't bring them back, but it will make sure that no one else will have a similar accident."After the crash, Finch called on state leaders to spend $100,000 to install the guardrail. The project was completed on Thursday.
