WETHERSFIELD, Conn. -- Police are investigating a string of motorcycle thefts in Wethersfield. On May 16 a witness at the Village Apartments in town told police that they saw two men in a van steal a motorcycle.Police said less than a month later, two motorcycles were taken from the lot at the Fairway Apartment complex nearby.“The van is pulling up and two gentlemen are simply just picking up the motorcycle together and either pushing it up a ramp or what not, but just getting into the van and driving away,” said Lt. Andrew Power of the Wethersfield Police Department.
Police said they believe both thefts were the work of the same two thieves.Officers urged anyone who may live in a nearby apartment complex to secure their bikes.“If you have to buy a long chain and secure it to a light pole, a tree, a street sign, something that’s going to slow them down,” Power said.Newington police said that the town has experiencing similar thefts.Anyone with information regarding the thefts is urged to contact the Wethersfield Police Department.
