Corrections Officer Stabbed With Homemade Weapon

MONTVILLE, Conn. -- Two corrections officers were transported to the hospital after being assaulted by an inmate of Corrigan Correctional Facility in Montville, police said.Police said the attack happened on Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m.State police said that the inmate, identified as Bobby Beale, 25, attacked one correctional officer. During the attack, police said Beale stabbed the officer with a homemade weapon. A second correctional officer attempted to assist in the fight and was also injured, police said.Both officers were transported to Backus Hospital, where they were treated and released.Beale was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, assault, assault on a correctional officer and possession of a dangerous instrument in a correctional facility. He remains held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday.
