Man Charged After Fatal Collision

Collision Killed Motorcyclist, Injured Passenger

Police said a man was charged Saturday in connection with a collision that occurred on July 5 that killed one man and injured a woman.

Police said the collision occurred on Route 2/32 and Washington Street. They said a motorcycle was turning left onto Washington Street when it was struck by a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina.

The motorcyclist, Alan Begin, 47, of Norwich, and his passenger, Dawn M. Foisey, 42, of Norwich, were taken to Backus Hospital, officials said.

They said Begin was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver of the Lumina, Eugene N. Parsons, 56, of Garland, Maine, was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, second-degree assault, reckless driving, operating under the influence and failure to obey a traffic signal.

He is being held on a $500,000 bond pending his arraignment on Monday.
