Windows Of Cars Shot Out On I-691

Police Say Shooters Used BB Gun

Police said the windows of three cars were shot out while driving on Interstate 691 on Tuesday morning.

State police said three separate motorists were traveling down I-691 in Meriden around 3 a.m. when they heard something pierce the windows in their cars. In one case, a window was even shattered.

The preliminary investigation found that the shots were likely fired from a BB gun.

State police called in additional troopers and search dogs, and Meriden police were asked to check residential neighborhoods near the highway for possible shooters.

State police searched I-691 and Route 15 for any other vehicles that might have been damaged by the shootings.

"We sent K9 teams and blanketed the area, even contacted Meriden police to catch whomever is responsible," said police Lt. Paul Vance.

Luckily, no one was hurt, he said, but that's always a possibility.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
