Parked Vehicles Damaged In Overnight Race

Residents Still Shaken Up, They Say

Cars on a New Haven street were seriously damaged overnight, residents said, rattling some of them right out of their beds.

Police said two cars that were racing down Lexington Avenue Wednesday night hit the vehicles.

Yayaia Martinez said his car was totaled in the incident. He said he had to call a junk collector to come get his car because he has only liability insurance.

“I can’t believe this,” he said.

Police said they have arrested one person in connection to the incident, though a name was not immediately available.

Those in the neighborhood said they’re still shaken up.

“This doesn’t make any kind of sense,” Rob Lowry said. “This is ridiculous.”
