Hanna Leads To Cancellations Across State

Rain Causes Concert Stage To Collapse

POSTED: 1:05 pm EDT September 6, 2008

Various events were being canceled or rescheduled across the state because of Tropical Storm Hanna.

The storm was expected to move across the state Saturday night into Sunday morning and was expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds.

The rain caused the roof over a stage set for a memorial concert in Stonington to collapse early Saturday morning, forcing organizers to cancel the show.

About 3,000 were expected to attend the Annual Sergio Franci Music Foundation concert on his wife’s Pequot Trail estate. For more information on the canceled show, Read the full story.

The Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival was also canceled. The festival had been scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Organizers said that they hoped to continue with the festival as scheduled on Sunday, but that the decision would be made at about 8 a.m.

More information about the festival’s schedule can be obtained at the Seaport Association’s Web site.

Concerns about Tropical Storm Hanna have prompted organizers to change the start time of a Saturday Jimmy Buffett concert in Mansfield, Mass. The show, originally scheduled for Saturday night was bumped up to 3 p.m.
