WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- Robert Carlstrom said he received a letter Aug. 1 notifying him that he needs to sell his home. One person owns more than 80 percent of the condos in the development where Carlstrom lives, giving him the right under state law to force those living there to sell their homes.Carlstrom is among those who are upset about the decision of the majority condo owner to buy all of the condos and rent them as apartments. He said he planned to retire in his condo, and he’s put time and money into fixing it up.Al Ippolito, who represents the condo majority owner, said it’s legal. He said they homeowners will be offered fair-market value for their homes and will be allowed to stay and rent them if they choose.By turning the condos into apartments, he said, the building can be better managed.
