A babysitter is accused of taking three children along during a home burglary in Newington.

Newington police said officers responded to reports of a burglary at a condominium on Moylan Court at about 9:30 a.m. Monday.

A resident of the complex reported seeing a man walking through the rear of the complex with a large-screen television. The resident reported seeing the man put the television into a black vehicle, which they said was being driven by a woman.

Police said the vehicle was spotted a short time later by a responding officer. Besides the driver and passenger, police said three children, ages 1, 1 and 3 were in the car.

Officers said a 42-inch television and sports and entertainment memorabilia were found in the car.

Amanda Homar, 18, of Newington, and Tyrell Johnson, 18, of Newington, were taken into police custody. They said Homar admitted to taking part in the burglary and said that she is the children's baby sitter.

The Department of Children and Families and the children's parents were contacted.

Homar was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, risk of injury to a minor and conspiracy to commit risk of injury to a minor. She was released on a $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 27.
