Police have found a 1-month-old boy who they said was abducted from a Waterford mall Thursday night, but his mother is still missing.

Police said the child was found Friday morning and that he appears to be healthy. They said he has also been checked by a doctor.

Abducted Baby Returned To Police

"The baby's disposition was fine," said Police Lt. Jeffrey Nixon. "Very peaceful. Very quiet."

Police said 1-month-old Xzavion Nobleza was taken by his mother, 22-year-old Deahenna Nobleza. Police originally named Nobleza's boyfriend as a person of interest in the investigation, but had ruled him out by Friday morning. Police said Jose Morales, 48, was ruled out after being interviewed by officers.

Eyewitness News Reporter Heather Hegedus was told by police that a family member convinced Deahenna to turn the baby in. They said the individual drove the baby to the Waterford Police Department along with formula and diapers.

"She had contact with the mother this morning," said Nixon. "She did talk her into turning over the 1-month-old child to her custody. This party then brought the child directly to the police department."

Deahenna is still missing, police said.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Hallie Jackson reported that the mall's surveillance cameras captured video of the mother taking the baby. Police said the mother, her boyfriend and the baby had already met for 10 similar visits at the mall, so the worker was not expecting an incident.

Waterford police said they were extremely concerned about the abduction because they did not know what Nobleza's intentions are.

While no Amber Alert was issued after the newborn's abduction, those residing near the mall received automated phone messages alerting them of the situation.

Police said the investigation is focusing on Deahenna’s arrest. They said she’ll likely be charged with risk of injury to a minor and custodial interference.

Police said she's about 5 feet tall with a medium build and blue eyes.
