Serious Inquiries Only, Woman Says

A local woman said it's important to stand out when searching for a job, which is why she took out a billboard ad to attract prospective employers.

Pasha Stocking said she needs work, and she wants everyone to know it.

"I'm really hoping to get a job," she said.

Stocking, who was laid off recently, said, "Unfortunately, budget issues, they had to downsize, so I had to be let go."

Stocking said she was the director of sales and marketing at a Middletown company before she got her pink slip.

The single mom said she'd tried everything else to land a job quickly, so she decided to try something unique.

"I feel like I'm sending my resume online and it's not even being looked at," Stocking said. "It's really frustrating when you're trying to so hard and you're not getting calls back."

She said she knew she had to find a way to stand out, and now she does. Her billboard speaks loud and clear along Interstate 95 in Bridgeport.

"So far, there have been over 200 hundred hits on my Web site," Stocking said.

The full-sized billboard, which was put up Wednesday night, is designed to catch eyes and job offers, she said.

One thing she wouldn't discuss was how much the billboard cost.

"I'm not going to say that," Stocking said. "All I can say is it's a financial risk for me and my family, but something will come out of it.

She said she also wants to make it clear that taking this step is "all about me and my kids, so I have to do what I have to do."

Stocking said she's only looking for job offers.

"Serious inquiries only," she said.

Stocking said she's hoping to land a job in the next 30 days, because she can only afford to keep the billboard up that long.
