Bysiewicz: Remember To Mail In Voter Forms

Mail-In Forms Due By April 20

POSTED: 9:45 am EDT April 17, 2009

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz issued a reminder to Connecticut voters Friday that mail-in registration forms needed to vote in municipal elections May 4 must be postmarked by April 20.

Voters also have until 8 p.m. on April 27 to register in person, she added.

"Crucial budget and educational issues are facing many towns in Connecticut as voters go to the polls to choose municipal leaders this year, so it is imperative to register to vote," Bysiewicz said. "Anyone who wants a say in the future direction of their community in these tough times should make sure they mail registration materials to their Registrar of Voters office by Monday, April 20, or else go to town hall and fill out the registration card in person by 8 p.m. on April 27."

Polls will open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the municipal elections in the following communities: The towns of Andover, Bethany, Bolton, Naugatuck, Union and Woodbridge, the boroughs of Litchfield, Naugatuck, Newtown, Stonington, Bantam in Litchfield, Danielson in Killingly, Fenwick in Old Saybrook, Jewett City in Griswold and Woodmont in Milford, and the City of Groton.

The majority of Connecticut's municipalities will hold primaries, if necessary, on Sept. 15 and a general election for municipal candidates on Nov. 3.
