HARTFORD, Conn. -- A school was placed under a lock-in Wednesday after police were called to a café across the street in Hartford."We heard a whole bunch of gunshots and saw cops running down Kent Street," said Kinesha Drummond, who was on her way to the school to pick up her young cousin.Police said they were dispatched to Blue Hills Café at the intersection of Blue Hills and Albany avenues after receiving reports of a shooting.Police said they found shell casings at the scene. They said several people were reportedly seen running into the building, which has apartments above the café.Police said officers stood guard while the SWAT team went in and rounded up everyone inside.Police said the café is located across the street from Lewis Fox Middle School.Because of the location, school officials placed the school under a lock-in, meaning students can move around within the school but are not allowed outside. During the lock-in, no one was allowed to enter the school.
