Police in Middletown are investigating an early-morning motorcycle crash that sent two men to Hartford Hospital Saturday with serious injuries.

In a news release, Officer David Godwin with the Middletown Police Department said a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, operated by 25-year-old Sean Fox, of Middletown, was traveling northbound on West Lake Drive at about 6 a.m. when it veered off the roadway near Cambridge Commons and struck a tree in the center median.

Godwin said Fox is currently listed in stable condition.

The passenger of the motorcycle, 25-year-old Nicolas Talevi, of Higganum, Conn., is currently listed in critical condition.

Resident of the area told police that they heard a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed, but authorities haven't said whether that was a factor.

Lt. Sean Moriarty with the Middletown Police Department told Channel 3 Eyewitness News at the scene, that that neither man was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
