5 New Cases Of H1N1 Reported

State Total Now At 213

The Connecticut Department of Public Health confirmed five new cases of H1N1 flu among Connecticut residents on Monday.

A total of 213 confirmed cases have now been identified among Connecticut residents. Among the patients, ages range from 3 to 56, with an average of 16, and 53 percent are male and 47 percent are female.

Confirmed cases of H1N1 have been found in the following towns: Andover, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bolton, Bridgeport, Cromwell, Danbury, Darien, Derby, East Windsor, Easton, Fairfield, Glastonbury, Granby, Greenwich, Hamden, Hartford, Manchester, Mansfield, Middlefield, Monroe, Naugatuck, New Haven, North Branford, North Granby, Norwalk, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Pawcatuck, Prospect, Redding, Ridgefield, Seymour, Sherman, Simsbury, Southbury, South Norwalk, South Windsor, Southington, Southport, Stamford, Stratford, Tolland, Trumbull, Wallingford, Waterbury, West Hartford, Weston, Westport, Wethersfield, Wilton and Woodbury.

"The Department of Public Health will continue to monitor for additional cases," Gov. Jodi Rell said. "We continue to encourage people to take simple, common-sense precautions to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the flu. People with flu-like symptoms should call their doctor."

DPH continues to ask residents to take precautions to prevent getting the flu or spreading it by staying home from work or school if they are sick, washing their hands frequently and coughing or sneezing into their sleeve or a tissue.
