BRISTOL, Conn. -- Three weeks ago, Connecticut resident Dawn Cole was in a bad car accident in Africa, leaving her unable to move her arms and legs. Now, her family wants to bring her home, but they said they've been told it will cost about $140,000 -- money they don't have -- to do so.Elliott Johnson said he's reaching out to everyone he can in an effort to bring his sister home.On Tuesday, he spent time on the phone with Sen. Joe Lieberman's office. He said he's already spoken with the state department.Johnson said Cole is at a hospital in Kenya. She was recently airlifted from Uganda after being hurt in a car accident while visiting her fiancé, who she'd met while working as a U.S. Army contractor for the company KBR in Iraq.Cole's family said they got the chance to speak with her a few days ago."She sounds down," said Brier Cole, Dawn Cole's brother. "She feels all alone."He said he and his family are worried and frustrated. He said they've sent the hospital $20,000 because Dawn Cole does not have traveler's insurance. He said the hospital is asking for more money. The crash occurred four days before Dawn Cole was supposed the return to the state. Her aunt said she just wants her niece to know her family is doing everything it can to bring her home.A fund to help the family has been set up at Webster Bank, 647 Farmington Ave, Bristol, CT 06010.
