EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Liberty Mutual Insurance held a demonstration Wednesday that simulated the effects of aging on drivers. The event was held Wednesday at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. The insurance company has introduced an online game to help seniors and their relatives decide when the right time is to have older residents hand over the keys. It's about opening a conversation about the issue, Liberty officials said.At the event, Liberty officials had participants don suits that simulate what it feels like to be an older driver. The suits included knee braces to limit flexibility, weights to create a hunch, gloves to restrict dexterity and a neck brace to reduce head movement. The suit also included vision-impairing glasses. The suit isn't available to the general public, but the online videogame simulation is. Players, who pick what age they are in the game, try different scenarios, including going to the grocery store, navigating heavy traffic and even evading wildlife. To play the game, click here.
