Police have asked for the public's help finding a man wanted in connection with the robbery of Wachovia Bank in Stamford on Monday at about 12:20 p.m.

Police said the robber is described as a 55- to 65-year-old black man with a medium complexion, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, a thin build and receding salt-and-pepper hair. They said he also has a full salt-and-pepper beard as well.

They said he was also wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt with a front zipper, a light-colored collared shirt, dark-colored gym pants with a possible Nike Swoosh logo on left front thigh and a stripe along the leg, and aviator-type sunglasses. They said he may have spoken with an accent.

Police said the man mentioned having a weapon. When he demanded money, police said, the teller complied.

The robber fled the bank, located at 2284 Summer St. with an undisclosed amount of money.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 203-977-4417.
