NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- A New Britain police officer is recovering after a crash that police said involved a drunken driver.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Allen and Stanley streets Saturday morning.

Officer Robert Wanczyk injured his arm in the crash, police said. He is expected to recover.

Javier Fuente, 26, was charged with DUI in connection with the crash.

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

State police said Sunday morning that they had made 33 DUI arrests across the state during the holiday weekend.
