Several members of the Cromwell Police Department were honored at a ceremony on Monday.

Officers William Kogut and Steve Dorais, Fred Gengler and Sgt. Michael Wren, along with dispatcher Mailene Downes were honored for their actions on Oct. 26, 2008.

According to officials Dorais and Kogut became engaged in a foot pursuit with a teen armed with a knife and handgun.

Town officials said the officers determined that the teen was attempted "suicide by cop."

Kogut was able to convince the teen to put down the handgun, while the other officers were able to get the knife from the teen's hands and prevent him from harming the officers or himself.

Downes was honored for her efforts in dispatching members of the department that night and Gengler was honored for his work with Argo, the department's K-9.
