Colchester Schools Deal With Lice Outbreak

COLCHESTER, Conn. -- Lice have made life difficult for 28 students in Colchester, where there has been a recent outbreak of the tiny white bugs.Health experts said that getting rid of lice is simple; the problem is identifying those with the bugs.Officials said that most of the students who were afflicted earlier this month were in elementary school.The treatment for lice consists of an over-the-counter medicated shampoo.Health experts said that if you or your child has had lice to use the medicated shampoo and to wash all of your clothes and bed linens in hot water and dry them on high heat.The Colchester school system sent a letter home with every student explaining the situation along with tips for detection and prevention.
