Even though Guilford Whaling Capt. Fredrick Weld died in 1893, his heirs kept his personal belongings in the attic of a building on the Guilford green.

Now his whole collection is being auctioned off by Chestnut Auctions of North Stonington.

Items being auctioned include bags, maps, charts and other maritime memorabilia.

Experts at Mystic Seaport said that this find is extremely rare and they are hoping that whoever buys the items keeps them together. The auction will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
