COLCHESTER, Conn. -- State environmental police are investigating the shooting death of a dog in Colchester.Police said a dead pit bull was found in Babcock Pond Wildlife Management Area Tuesday morning. They said the dog was found south of Route 16, and said it appears that the dog was shot in the roadway and dragged into the woods.Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police said the dog, which is white and tan and weighs about 45 pounds, had no collar, but looks as though it wore a collar at some point.Department of Environmental Protection officials are urging anyone with information regarding the dog or its owner to contact the DEP Emergency Dispatch Center by dialing 860-424-3333.
