UPDATED: 7:04 pm EDT October 30, 2009

A Bridgeport police lieutenant and four patrol officers were suspended with pay after an investigation into an accident involving an officer’s personal vehicle.

The police department recently completed an internal investigation of Lt. Christine Burns and officers Thomas Kristy, Ferdinand Ferraro, Peter Billings and Scot Waehler.

All five work the overnight shift in Bridgeport.

Beyond saying the investigation was about an accident involving an officer's personal vehicle, Human Relations Director Larry Osborn had no other comment except that all five will be able to keep their badges during the suspension.
