DEEP RIVER, Conn. -- State police said Laura Smith, wife of Deep River First Selectman Richard Smith, turned herself in on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest.Police said a complaint was made by Liberty Bank officials after an internal audit found an employee was allegedly taking money from bank deposits for five months.Police conducted an investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Laura Smith.Smith turned herself in to police on Wednesday, where she was charged with larceny by embezzlement and released on a $20,000 non-surety bond.She was scheduled to appear in court on November 24.
