The town of Cromwell is focusing on revitalizing its downtown area. On Thursday evening, there will be a vote to decide on several projects aimed at accomplishing that goal.

Shana Cappiello and Karly Dibella said the appeal of downtown Cromwell, or lack thereof, is apparent.

Dibella said, “I think the area is pretty dead.”

Cappiello said, “It is dead in this area, especially, there’s not much.”

Town leaders are not standing idly by on the issue. They are putting together a town-wide vote on several items aimed at revitalizing the area.

One item calls for the purchase of a home for $100,000. It would be cleared from the area to make a parking lot for a future market.

Another proposal had the town spending $200,000 for a continuation of a streetscape project that includes new sidewalks and reconstruction of an area known as the stocking triangle.
