Fire Damages Home In Family For Generations

BRISTOL, Conn. -- On Thursday morning, Craig Griswold had to make a call to his childhood friend to let him know his parents home had been destroyed by a fire.Griswold said, "He was just kind of freaked out because he had lived there since he was 10 and it was his grandparents home before that, so it freaked him out."Three people, a mother and her two sons, were inside the Carmelo Road home when flames broke out just before 5 a.m.Fire officials said one person, a man in his 20s, suffered a non-life-threatening burn to his hand.Bristol fire officials said they believe the fire spread from the home's basement to the kitchen and throughout the home. Fire officials said the home, which has been in the owner's family for two generations, is uninhabitable.
