BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- On Friday, officials from the city of Bridgeport met to discuss safety at an apartment complex.This after a family was killed in a fire last week.The mayor has set up a task force to try to figure out what to do and how quickly it can be done.The mayor - state and congressional leaders and other city officials say some changes need to happen immediately.Last week, an apartment fire at PT Barnum housing complex on the west side of the city killed a mother and her three children.Te mayor said the first change will be better fire safety education in the school system.State lawmakers are also drafting legislation to figure out if state building code needs to be changed.Fire inspectors said the complex did not have any code violations.Members of the task force said some of the changes may take years and it's not entirely clear what changed need to be made. However, they all agree -- action is needed.
