Michael Moore Threatens To Boycott Conn.

Lieberman Criticized For Health Care Reform Opposition

Filmmaker and political commentator Michael Moore threatened to boycott Connecticut if Sen. Joe Lieberman is not recalled.

Moore made the threat on Twitter Wednesday.

In his Tweet, Moore said, "People of Connecticut: What have u done 2 this country? We hold u responsible. Start recall of Lieberman 2day or we'll boycott your state."

Politico reported Tuesday that Rep. Rosa DeLauro called for the recall of Lieberman.

DeLauro said, "No one should hold health care hostage, including Joe Lieberman, and I'll say it flat out, I think he ought to be recalled. I know that may not even be an option in Connecticut, but 45,000 people die every year because they don't have health care. We don't have the luxury to hold up a bill that could make a difference in people's lives. This is what we were sent here to do."

The state has no recall law for officials, according to the Secretary of the State's Office.

Lieberman, an Independent, has been the target of recent criticism after he made public his opposition to the Democrats' health care legislation.

Supporters of health care reform rallied Tuesday outside Lieberman's Connecticut office. The protesters urged Lieberman to support a public option in the health care reform bill.

Lieberman told reporters Tuesday that if the Medicare expansion and government insurance plan are gone, he'd be ready to vote for health care reform.

In the past few days, Secretary of State Susan Bysewicz said her office has received numerous calls about how to start the recall process. She said people are angry over Lieberman's stance on Medicare and the public option, and she is too.

Bysewicz said, "I think that Mr. Lieberman has been a lightning rod, and I'm very disappointed he's blocking it."
