Hartford, Bloomfield Police Arrest Man After Investigation

Police in Hartford and Bloomfield arrested a man after they said he held two women with a knife and raped one of them.

On Saturday, two women sat in a parked car in front of Club 960 on Main Street in Hartford when they said an black man entered the car with a knife and ordered the two women to drive away, according to police.

Police said 28-year-old Jenoy Ellison, of 161 Ridgefield St. in Hartford, made them drive to a location in Bloomfield where he locked one of the women in the trunk of the car and raped the female passenger.

After several hours, police said Ellison made the women drive him back to Club 960 to get his car, but it had been towed. Police said the women then drove him to the tow truck company to get his car.

After, police said the women immediately drove to a local hospital where they reported the incident to officials. There, the women were able to provide information to police such as Ellison's vehicle information as well as locating the gas station where he had purchased gas for the women's car, police said.

Detectives from Hartford worked with Bloomfield police and discovered the location of the rape to be 37 Tobey St. in Bloomfield.

After an investigation, Ellison was arrested and charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of sexual assault.

Ellison is being held on $850,000 bond.

Hartford police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "What happened to these two young women is a horrible tragedy and my thoughts and prayers are with both of them and their families. However, this incident is not part of any trend in the downtown area. The Hartford Police Department and the Bloomfield Police Department worked together to bring this matter to a quick resolution and successfully removed a violent criminal from ours streets. As part of our Neighborhood Policing Plan, the Hartford Police Department has consistently increased our uniformed presence in the entertainment district to ensure the safety of all our residents and all those who visit our city."
