NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A truck struck a tree on the New Haven Green Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Witnesses said the truck first struck a bench before slamming into the tree.

Police said the man driving the truck was disoriented and when they searched the vehicle, police discovered numerous pharmaceutical drugs.

The man was transported to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
