MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- An out-of-control Toyota was involved in a crash in Middletown Thursday afternoon, police said.Police said the 2006 Camry lost control at Middlesex Health Care Center on Saybrook Road at about 1 p.m. They said the vehicle rolled over in the crash.Witnesses told Eyewitness News that they heard the car's engine roaring prior to the crash.Synthia Damotta was working when she heard what sounded like a car revving up before hearing the crash.Damotta said, "We were at the car the second after it happened. The door wouldn't open. It was locked. They kicked the window out and got her out."The car is among the Toyotas recently recalled. The cars pose the threat of unwanted acceleration, which led to the recall of more than 8 million cars and trucks.Toyota said faulty gas pedals and floor mats, not electronics, are the cause. It is fixing millions of vehicles to correct those problems. It was not immediately known whether the Middletown crash was from the same problem associated with the recall.
