UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Parishioners at Saint Ann's Church in Waterford have been lighting votive candles, hoping for the safe return of some of its members.The Hage family of New London is trapped in Lebanon. They left Connecticut in June and were supposed to return home Aug. 5.
Family Tries To Find Way Out Of LebanonAll the Lebanese Airports and connecting roads have been destroyed following Israel's retaliation to a Hezbeloah-launched missile last week.
Jack Hage has taken time off of work at Mohegan Sun while he awaits word from his wife, three children and father."They were in (the) southern part of Lebanon yesterday. They went to Beirut -- it's an hour ride. They took the back roads -- took two hours. All the roads, bridges bombed, nothing left of them," Hage said."I'm just worried how my kids are going to react to this. That's what's going through my mind now. My wife, my dad are there, just my kids are younger, they've never seen this," said Hage.His wife spoke with officials with the U.S. Embassy Tuesday. She was told to wait until she is called.Congressman Rob Simmons' office told Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Kevin Hogan that they are trying to assist 15 families from the second district in getting home from Lebanon safely.Stay with WFSB.com and Channel 3 Eyewitness News for the latest news updates.
