Downed trees and wires led to power outages in Middletown on Monday afternoon.

Police said trees and wires were downed in the area of East and West Lake Drive.

Connecticut Light & Power listed 7,275 outages in the city.

CL&P was reporting that 4,800 residents across the state were without power as of 1 p.m. The company said that the majority of the outages were due to downed tree limbs falling on wires.

Crews were being dispatched to restore electricity.
