A double shooting led to the closure of Albany Avenue in Hartford on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they received reports of a shooting around 3 p.m.

Officers who responded to the scene initially didn't find anything, police said.

Police began canvassing the neighborhood and said an active crime scene was found on Cabot Street.

Police said that the shooting ensued when passengers in two cars became involved in a verbal altercation.

Police said a tan car pulled up next to a green sedan, and the parties in the cars began arguing.

Officers said that a man and woman inside the green car were shot. The driver of the sedan then lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a gas station parking lot, police said.

The sedan sideswiped a truck in the crash, and the truck's driver was transported to the hospital.

Police said the victims were a 20-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.

The pair's injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Officers urged anyone with information regarding the investigation to contact the Hartford Police Department's anonymous tip line by dialing 860-527-TIPS.
