Officer Sustained Injuries To Left Leg, Police Say

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A New Haven officer was struck by a motorcycle on Thursday according to police.Police said Officer Matthew Abbate was attempting to stop a group of motorcycles for moving violations when they went toward the dead-end of Hamilton Street.Police said Abbate attempted to use his cruiser to stop the group. They said he got out of the car and one of the motorcyclists came at him, hitting him with the motorcycle.The motorcyclists fled the scene, police said.Abbate was taken to St. Raphael's, where he was treated for injuries to his left leg and later released.
