Police are searching for a gunman or gunmen who opened fire in Middletown Sunday night, shooting three people.

Police said two men and one woman were shot in a Ferry Street apartment just before 11 p.m.

Police said someone was seen running toward the direction of Route 9 and the Connecticut River. Police searched the area and found nothing.

Two of the victims were taken to an area hospital and the third was treated and released.

The apartment is owned by Nehemiah Housing Corporation, which offers some affordable housing units in the complex.
