A man is accused of intentionally striking a Department of Environmental Protection officer with his pickup truck.

Police said the officer was investigating ATVs driving on Route 203 in Windham Sunday. During the investigation, the officer attempted to stop two pickup trucks leaving a lot, police said.

One of the trucks sped at the officer and struck him.

The driver, identified as Dean Nadeau, of New Britain, was taken into police custody and charged with assault on a police officer, interfering with police, trespass and operating an unregistered ATV.

Nadeau’s bond was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Danielson court on July 27.

The officer’s condition is unknown.
