Man Charged With Manslaughter

One of two pedestrians hit by a car Sunday afternoon in Stamford has died.

Police said Ivan Dziuba, 25, of Stamford, died shortly after arriving at Stamford Hospital. Police said Dziuba and another pedestrian were hit by a Toyota Rav 4 driven by Mykhaylo Peleh, 30, of Stamford.

The other victim was taken to Stamford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Releh was hospitalized with a neck injury and was expected to be released from the hospital on Monday.

Upon his release, police said Peleh will charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle, misconduct with a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, evading responsibility, operating without a license and unsafe backing. His bond will be set at $750,000 pending arraignment on Tuesday.

Police said Peleh is a Ukrainian national and his immigration status is under review.
