Patriots' Harrison Will Retire And Enter Broadcasting

POSTED: 1:31 am EDT June 3, 2009

(Sports Network) - New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison will reportedly retire from pro football and join NBC Sports.

The Boston Globe reports the 36-year-old is set to announce at a Wednesday morning news conference that he is done playing after 15 seasons in the NFL.

The often-outspoken Harrison previously was a part of NBC's coverage of Super Bowl XLIII this past February as well as stints with NFL Network.

Over six seasons with New England and nine with San Diego, Harrison totaled 34 interceptions, 30.5 sacks and 1,205 tackles. He is the only player in NFL history to notch 30 sacks and 30 INTs in a career. Harrison won two Super Bowl rings with the Pats.

Harrison was originally drafted in the fifth round in 1994 by the Chargers.
