COLCHESTER, Conn. -- Falling prices caused drivers in Colchester to line up to get gas Friday. At the new Sunoco, gas was at $1.94 a gallon.“I just heard down the street that the prices were down, so I decided to get over here,” said Christine Levasseur. “I'm going to go home and get my Tahoe and get that over here, too.”The new owners of the Sunoco station said they decided to kick things off with lower fuel prices as a draw, but some customers wonder how long the lower prices will last.“I'm pleased it’s going lower, but it will be back up there before long, probably a matter of weeks,” said Richard Reed. “In a year, we’ll be back to $4.”When the fuel prices were higher, drivers started to change their driving habits, but some are questioning whether the lower prices will cause people to revert back to their old ways.“I think people are still going to stick with the smart cars and hybrids,” Linda Hauser said.Roger Palmer said he remembers the gas wars of the 1960s, at the same pump he was using Friday.“Used to work here after school,” he said. “We had a gas war, and we used to give green stamps, knives and glasses out, and it went down to 12 cents a gallon.”
